BMW India launches X7 at Rs 98.90 lakh – ET Auto

New Delhi: BMW India has launched its X7 luxury SUV at a price tag of Rs 98.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in two different trim options, xDrive30d Design Pure Excellence Signature and xDrive40i, the X7 is the top-of-the-range model for the German brand’s X series SUVs.

The automaker says that X7 is the largest Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) ever built by the brand. The diesel variant of the car is locally produced in India at the Chennai factory to keep pricing lower, while the petrol model comes as Completely Built Unit (CBU).

Speaking about the car, Hans-Christian Baertels, President (act.), BMW Group India, said, “The first-ever BMW X7 is a statement of the luxury class – the flagship of the ‘X’ range. It combines the modernity and exclusivity of a luxury sedan with the agile driving and spaciousness of a sports activity vehicle. Ensuring its prominence on the road, the size of the X7 needs to be seen to be believed.”

He also added, “It’s big, it’s bold and has an incredible on-road presence. The first-ever BMW X7 opens up a brand new dimension in luxurious driving pleasure and is designed to elevate every moment of the journey. The first-class comfort this car delivers is absolutely unparalleled. With the BMW X7, the possibilities are truly limitless.”

BMW X7 follows the Design Pure Excellence ‘DPE’. It uses extensive range of chrome elements at exterior and inside the cabin. It gets a large kidney grille, BMW’s signature corona ring LED headlamps, sleek LED lights at the rear.

The interior is spacious and very luxurious, just like the BMW 7-Series sedan. It gets two captain-style Comfort Seats for the second row. Automatic air conditioning with five-zone control extends the luxury for each passenger, says the company. There is a large Sky Lounge Panoramic glass sunroof.

A host of BMW ConnectedDrive technologies is there, including BMW Gesture Control, BMW Display Key, Wireless Charging and Wireless Apple CarPlay. The modern cockpit concept BMW Live Cockpit Professional running on latest BMW Operating System 7.0 includes 3D Navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display behind the steering wheel and a 12.3-inch Control Display.

Rear-seat Entertainment Professional allows users to access the entertainment, navigation from the rear seats. It now comprises two 10.2 inch full-HD displays screen with touch functionality integrated with a Blu-ray player. There is a Harman Kardon surround sound system with 16 speakers.

BMW X7 gets TwinPower Turbo technology, the petrol and diesel engines meld maximum power with exemplary efficiency and offer spontaneous responsiveness even at low engine speeds, as the company claims.

A 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine churns out 345 PS and maximum torque of 450 Nm at 1,500 – 5,200 rpm. The SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds. On the other hand, the 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine of the BMW X7 xDrive30d produces an output of 268 PS and a maximum torque of 620 Nm at 1,500 – 2,500 rpm.

The diesel variant accelerates from 0-100 kmph in just 7 seconds.BMW X7 also gets xDrive, an intelligent all-wheel-drive system alongside electronically controlled Automatic Differential Brakes/Locks, extended Dynamic Traction Control, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.
